Caken Me Crazy was built to reflect the welcoming and family-oriented nature of the owner, Ara. It is a testament to her vision and passion for baking that our bakery is a wonderfully inviting and playful shop adored by its customers.

One of our favourite parts about being a local bakery is being able to help our neighbours in the community bring their special occasions a sweet flair. We love getting to know everyone else thriving in the North Okanagan and sharing our passion for baking delicious and mouth-watering baked goods into their lives.

Ara Metzner

Meet the Pastry Chef and owner, Ara Metzner.

Ever since I would bake with my mom, I had the dream of creating beautiful wedding cakes. And, as I worked in the dental industry for 15 years, the thought of going to culinary school was always in the back of my mind. Eventually, I took the leap and enrolled at the Culinary school in Washington State and there was no going back. Now, I’ve been a happy and proud baker for over 10 years.

My little family and I moved to the islands of Hawaii and I learnt the art of pastry dough and made hundreds of croissants for the daily markets. When I got homesick, and after several prompts from my parents, I moved back to the Okanagan and started to think of how I could continue following my passion. That’s why Caken Me Crazy was born. We opened our doors shortly after in June 2018. And, I’ve been following my dream ever since.
